Victor Methos Goes Back to Serial Killers
The title is cheesy, I know, but it was in a review I just saw for one of my newer books. I've written extensively in my mysteries about serial murder, as it's clearly a fascinating topic for everyone, but then switched for a couple years to exclusively legal thrillers that focused on procedure and litigation. Well I've now written three books in a row about serial murder (first one, THE HALLOWS can be purchased here and will be out July 1st) and I gotta say, it still fascinates me.
The reason being that there is something so incredible dysfunctional in the mind of these monsters that I can't help but be fascinated, particularly with the extremely intelligent ones like Ted Bundy.
Bundy had exceptional insight into himself and talked frequently about not having control over his "dark voice" which allowed this voice to ruin his life and the lives of all his victims. Some psychologists have used this as evidence he was possibly schizophrenic or suffering from Dissociative Identity Disorder (multiple personalities), but I don't think so. I think he had a fully functioning brain without any mental disorder, but something had gone haywire. Some sort of misfiring that caused him to be a brutal animal to his fellow human beings.
Or perhaps there really is evil in the world, and psychology cannot explain it away. Some people, maybe, are just born evil, and evil cannot change.
Fascinating stuff. So be on the lookout for the next two books out in January 2020 and summer 2020. I've conducted a lot more research into the minds of psychopaths and have woven that research into the stories. So, yes, Victor Methos has gone back to writing about serial killers, and Victor Methos hopes you guys enjoy it :)
